Dear Parents,

We are so proud of how hard our fourth grade students worked on FCAT Writes. They gave 100% to achieve a 4 or more! Thank you to our fourth grade teachers for working so hard and preparing our students for the “BIG” day.

Umatilla Elementary has an additional security measure in place. We are the pilot school for  Aiphone Single Point of Entry “buzz in” procedure during the school day.  The front door is locked. Visitors must push the black button with a red light. Mrs. Messer will ask if she can help them.  The person must identify themselves and the purpose for entering our campus.  Administration will be notified immediately of any concerns.

Third, fourth and fifth grade classes are diligently preparing for FCAT 2.0. The test is scheduled for April 15-26.  Encourage your children to always do their best.  We appreciate your coming for report card conferences.  I know the teachers gave you suggestions and areas to work on with your child.  School attendance is so vital to success in school.  Please make sure your child is here every day!

We are also very excited about a new web-based math program “Moby Math” that is available for our students.  Teachers have set up their students.  Children have received a password and completed a pretest.  This program now targets areas students are deficient and tutors them.  They can access this program from home.

Students without behavior issues and who had 30 bulldog bucks were invited to the “Cool Conduct Club” adventure.  Grand Rental provided a blow-up “Sports Complex” for these students to enjoy.  There were over 300 participants. These students exhibited success with our school-wide discipline plan by being prepared, always responsible, willing to learn and super respectful!

“Caring from the Heart” was a huge success.  We collected over 500 cans of nonperishable items to donate to a local food pantry.  Thank you for sharing what you have with the less fortunate in our community.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in Umatilla Elementary.  You are the best!

Respectfully,
