To All EHS Stakeholders:

Welcome to a new year here at Eustis High School.  As the new principal, I have been so impressed with the students I continue to meet throughout my day.  I am very excited about this school year, and our teachers, staff, and administrators are working very hard to ensure it will be a year successful in academics, the fine arts, and athletics.  Anyone who visits and observes our students and teachers in the classrooms will be struck by the time, efforts, and dedication our staff puts forth day in and day out to assist your students in reaching their goals.

Eustis High School has always had a tradition of academic excellence and athletic success.  We strive to provide quality programs. Our goal continues to be that all our students excel and acheive at the highest levels.  At the end of the day, how well our students are prepared to access information, determine if the information is credible, useful and valid, and how they use that information to make decisions that will positively affect their lives is our job.

With the upcoming introduction of the New National Common Core Standards, Lake County Schools is asking the question: R U C2 Ready?  For those who do not speak the code, it means "Are You Common Core/College and Career Ready?" To meet these increasing academic demands, Eustis High School is augmenting both Advanced Placement and Career Tech programs with new course offerings.  Presently, we have an Engineering program and next year we will open up a Cyber Security program.

In reviewing our school data, it is evident that we still need to target reading at all levels.  To better serve the needs of our students, many of our staff are either reading endorsed or working on their reading endorsement.  This includes our Career Technical teachers, Physical Education teachers, and other core academic and elective teachers.

I am proud of our students and all their achievements; in the classroom, in music, on the playing fields, and in our community.  I want to thank the City of Eustis for their continued support as well as the Chamber of Commerce, all the local businesses, civic groups, and community members who support and love Eustis High School.  I look forward to your continued support, for you understand our children are our most valuable resource, and their future lies in the hands of us all.

Sincerely,

Nancy Velez
Principal
