Air Force JROTC programs at Mount Dora, Eustis high schools visit nation’s capital
Forty-eight cadets from the Air Force Junior ROTC programs at Mount Dora High School and Eustis High School participated in the annual eight-day trip to Washington D.C., in June.
They visited many military installations during their stay and also visited countless numbers of memorials and museums as well. Cadet Maj. Destin Fleming and Cadet Capt. Steven Wallace from Mount Dora High School and Cadet Capt. Matthew Moulden and Cadet First Lt. Nicholas Novack from Eustis High School were chosen to lay a wreath, provided by Claudia's Pearl Florist in Mount Dora, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery.
The objectives of the JROTC program are to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship and life skills; promote community service; instill responsibility, character and self-discipline through character education; and to provide instruction in air and space fundamentals. Enrollment is open to all young people who are in the ninth grade or higher, physically fit, and are citizens or nationals of the United States.
