Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK)

Mission Statement

At Lake County Schools, our mission is to prepare children for school by developing essential school readiness skills in a fun and engaging environment that fosters a love for learning.

Discover the Benefits of Our VPK Program

Lake County Schools (LCS) proudly offers the Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program (VPK), a high-quality pre-kindergarten experience available to all four-year-old children in Florida. This free, voluntary program was established by the VPK Constitutional Amendment, approved by Florida voters in 2002.

For detailed information on available programs, check the FAQ page and the registration page for participating schools within the district.

Exciting News for Parents of Young 4-Year-Olds!

A new law extends VPK eligibility for children with birthdays from February 2 through September 1. Parents can choose to enroll their child in VPK the year they turn 4 or wait until the following year when their child is 5. This gives you the flexibility to decide the best time for your child to start their educational journey.
