TAVARES – While students are enjoying the last few weeks of summer break, Lake County Schools is preparing for its largest hiring event of the year in hopes of having new employees in place before classes resume on Aug. 12. 

Lake County Schools Hiring Day is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, at Tavares High School, 603 N. New Hampshire Ave., in Tavares.

The district is looking to hire about 90 teachers – especially math, special education, language arts and elementary education teachers – along with 40 teacher assistants and 20 bus drivers, and fill openings for the following positions: 

  • Food service assistants and dishwashers

  • Mechanics

  • Speech language pathologists

  • Building service technicians

  • Plumbers

  • Electricians

  • Part-time caregivers for before and after school

  • Custodians

Hiring managers from schools and departments across the district will interview potential candidates on site. Participants can register and get more information about this event and others at lake.k12.fl.us/jobfair .
