TAVARES – The 2025-26 school year will begin on Aug. 11, 2025, and it will end on May 29, 2026, for Lake County public school students. The 2026-27 school year will begin on Aug. 10, 2026, and it will end on May 28, 2027. For both school years, students will have Veterans Day off, a full week off for Thanksgiving and two weeks off for winter break.
The new calendars were approved by the School Board at their Jan. 27 meeting, after consideration of the results of a survey that was circulated to stakeholders. The survey presented two options for each school year. A link to the survey was posted on the district website and on its Facebook and X pages. The link was emailed to parents as well.
For both school years, the board unanimously voted in favor of the option with the highest level of support. The 2025-26 calendar was favored by 60 percent of respondents, and the 2026-27 calendar was favored by 50.3 percent of respondents.
Employee calendars, built around the student calendars, were approved by the board as well.
