We had a blast at our first PBIS event of the year, Minute to Win It! Gators saved up their Gator Bucks that they earned for positive Gator Behavior then cashed in to attend the event. Thank you to all of the amazing staff and volunteers for your help in making this a success for our students!

During our Cross Country Meet, our runners made us so proud! They showed determination and perseverance. They also were great sportsmen by cheering for and encouraging other runners, not only from our school but also our competitors. Go Gators!

Our young leaders continue to go above and beyond in representing the TRU-Leaders Academy and upholding its principles. Culminating a set of leader-building sessions in our leadership class, “Showing Compassion and Engaging with Empathy”, we shared with them the events of the historic tragedy of September 11, 2001 and how some people are still suffering even today because of it. They expressed that they wanted to show their great respect for all of the American citizens and first responders that we lost during that horrific period, so we invited their parents to share stories with the group of where they were on that day and how it affected their lives and the lives of loved ones. They were blown away when one parent shared that he was actually sitting in a classroom at Gray Middle when it happened. Our leaders then dedicated themselves to learning about, and showing empathy, respect, and reverence for those we lost and those who sacrificed. They then woke up before dawn on this past Saturday so we could be on the road by 5:00 am to travel to Altamonte Springs and carry out what we dubbed, our “TRU-Leaders Resilience Run” in support of the 2024 Tunnels to Towers 9/11 Memorial 5k Event. They showed true grit, toughness, resilience, and respect as they walked and ran for over three miles alongside Firefighters, Police Officers, Military personnel, and other citizens! It was truly amazing to see! Thank you, Mr. Bonner, for your leadership!

We have been recognized by the FLPBIS: MTSS Project as a 2023-2024 PBIS Model School! Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a 3-tiered evidence-based prevention framework that leads to reduced exclusionary discipline and improved student and teacher outcomes when fully implemented. By establishing PBIS, we are developing skills, enhancing our school environment, acknowledging appropriate behavior, and using data to identify supports for all of our students and teachers. As a PBIS Model School, we are committed to the effective implementation of PBIS and are seeking positive outcomes for all!
