We are excited to announce that 12th-grade students with a 2.5 GPA or higher and 11th-grade students with a 3.3 GPA or higher are invited to participate in the HBCU Week College Fair at the Disney Wide World of Sports. Participants are to bring copies of their transcripts and test scores to the event. Lunch and transportation will be provided.

The mission of HBCU Week is to encourage high-school aged youth to enroll into Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), provide scholarship dollars for matriculation and sustain a pipeline for employment from undergraduate school to corporate America.

The upcoming college fair is projected to bring in around 8,000 high school students from the Southeast and beyond. More than 40 universities from the nation’s HBCUs are expected to be present, with some offering four-year scholarships amounting to millions of dollars and on-the-spot university admissions.

Two years ago, when the event was last held, 25% of the Lake County seniors who attended were given on-the-spot acceptance to colleges and universities. Of those 25%, 14 were awarded more than $100K in scholarships -- some with full tuition plus room and board! Several 11th-grade students were accepted to colleges and universities, as well.
